Star Bound Consultancy (SBC) is a design practice working across architecture, interiors, and the integration of smart and sustainable systems. Our work is concerned with how buildings are conceived, detailed, and ultimately used, with an emphasis on clarity, restraint, and long-term performance.
We engage with projects at the point where ideas must become built form. Our role is to translate intent into spatial, material, and technical decisions that can be delivered on site and sustained over time. Design is approached as a process of alignment—between program and use, materials and climate, systems and maintenance, ambition and constraint.
Sustainability and smart systems are treated as integral design considerations rather than applied layers. We prioritize climate-responsive strategies, material logic, and systems that are legible to their users and viable within their operational context. Decisions are guided by an understanding of lifecycle performance, local supply chains, and the realities of construction and operation.
Our experience spans workplace, mixed-use, real estate, and institutional projects across Africa and the Middle East. Working across these contexts has shaped a practice attentive to place, culture, and resource availability, while remaining informed by broader global standards and methods.

Star Bound Design was founded by Nujuma Ibrahim, an interior designer and smart cities consultant with over fifteen years of experience working across the United States, Africa, and the Middle East. Her practice is shaped by a sustained interest in how design influences human behavior, social systems, and long-term use, rather than aesthetics alone.
She has consulted on projects ranging from the preservation and adaptive reuse of historic buildings dating to the 1880s to forward-looking developments informed by emerging technologies and future urban thinking.
Grounded in both architectural practice and smart cities research, her work emphasizes clarity in early decision-making, disciplined integration of systems, and design approaches that respond meaningfully to their cultural, social, and operational context.
SBD works alongside Harla, a strategic advisory practice engaged at the early stages of projects, where user experience and architectural design strategy are defined. This early work informs how spaces are conceived, organized, and understood, and is carried forward by SBD through design development and delivery. Together, the two practices allow ideas formed at the outset to remain legible as they take architectural form.
