01. What exactly does Star Bound Design (SBD) do?

We are a design-led practice that operates at the intersection of architecture, interior design, and smart systems. Unlike traditional firms that might stop at a concept, we specialize in translating high-level strategy into built reality. We ensure that ideas—whether for a corporate headquarters or a smart district—are detailed, delivered, and functional for the long term.

02. Is SBD a strategy think-tank or an architectural firm?

We are a design and delivery practice. While we provide deep strategic advisory through our “01 Strategy” service , we are not an abstract think-tank or policy house. We are grounded in real projects. We are the partner you engage when ideas must become physical forms, detailed materials, and operational systems.

03. What does "Human-Centered Design" mean in your practice?

It is our first and most important pillar. We believe “smart” is useless if people cannot or won’t use it. We put people at the center by studying real human behavior, movements, and social systems. Every decision, from space programming to wayfinding, is grounded in improving the quality of life and well-being of the end-user.

04. How do you integrate "Smart Systems" without over-complicating a building?

We follow the principle of Intelligence with Purpose. We don’t design for “show” or follow fleeting tech trends. We ensure that digital infrastructure and IoT are seamlessly embedded into the environment to simplify life, not complicate it. If a technology doesn’t measurably improve everyday life or operational efficiency, we don’t recommend it.

Our experience is rooted in Africa and the Middle East, though our methods are informed by global standards. We serve a wide range of typical clients, including:

06. How does SBD work with its sister practice, Harla?

SBC operates within a wider ecosystem. Harla is a strategic advisory practice often engaged at the very beginning to define the project’s vision and user experience. SBD then takes those early ideas and carries them through design development, technical documentation, and construction oversight. Together, we ensure the original vision remains legible in the final, built form.

07. Can you manage the construction phase?

Yes. Our “Project Delivery” service includes Construction Oversight and Contractor Liaison. We provide “Concept to IFC” (Issued for Construction) documentation and remain engaged on-site to solve problems and protect the design intent until the keys are handed over.
